“What I know for sure is this: The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal for this year is, you can get there—as long as you’re willing to be honest with yourself about the preparation and work involved. There are no back doors, no free rides. There’s just you, this moment, and a choice.” – OPRAH WINFREY
Here is the list:
1. They drink lots of water
One of the main daily habits of healthy people is that they drink lots of water.
When you stay hydrated, you control your appetite, you stay more alert and you control fatigue.
Carry a bottle of water anywhere you go to stay hydrated.
“Drink water, stay hydrated and sleep. It’s so boring, yet so simple.” —Jennifer Aniston
2. They get plenty of sleep
Getting adequate amount of sleep is another one of the daily habits of healthy people. You should aim for at least six hours of sleep every day so your body can become vitalized.
There are times when I usually struggle with sleep at night and I have solved the problem with these 5 tricks for a better nights’ sleep.
One trick I normally use is to stiffen my body parts one by one till I get to my legs.
Stiffen your neck, then release.
Do the same for your arms, your butt and your legs. Then relax. You’ll notice that it’s morning already.
3. They exercise
The one habit that healthy people never play with is exercise. They know exercise is a major part of staying healthy and they make sure they get a healthy dose of exercise every day.
This is a fact.
Find a program and schedule that works for you so that you can begin immediately to exercise for a better, healthier you.
You can also check my post on my daily morning and evening fitness routine so that you can have an idea of what to do.
4. They eat only the amount they need
One of the habits of unhealthy people is that they eat till they are full, not satisfied.
When you eat till you are full, you overeat and over-work your body also.
That is why most times when you overeat, you start to feel dizzy. This is your body’s way of telling you “give me some time to work on this load you have left me with”.
Eating when you are satisfied is when you stop eating as soon as you no longer feel hungry.
That’s the difference and you should practice the latter.
5. They meditate
Although this site is about physical health and weight loss, it is also necessary we talk about your spiritual health too.
I mean, it doesn’t make any sense to be all fit and healthy on the outside and be all messed up on the inside, right?
Healthy people spend time every day to meditate and keep their spiritual lives healthy.
If you are a beginner, you should try to spend ten minutes daily meditating.
Trust me; it will have a great impact on your life.
6. They laugh
Laughter is the best medicine. This can arguably mean that you don’t need any other form of drug in your life if you laugh every day.
Since I usually work alone, I listen to and watch comedy shows so that I can laugh for the day.
What I do sometimes is that I watch an episode of a sitcom (The Big Bang Theory especially) to get some laughs in me.
Try to laugh everyday as it will help you out a lot on becoming physically and spiritually healthy.
One Zen show I saw said that you should find an empty place where no one can see you, hold your hands together behind you and bare your teeth like an angry dog.
You will feel pretty silly and that will make you laugh at yourself.
7. They take long walks
Healthy people know that they need to keep their body active and so they make it a point to walk at least for minutes every day.
You may be busy and have no time to exercise but you need to find a way to exercise in your office.
If you have to get a small treadmill or do some workout routines during lunch-time, it would be well worth it.
8. They express gratitude
Many people were born with life threatening health situations and healthy people know this.
That is why they are very grateful to have the kind of health they have and they never take it for granted.
Also, give thanks for every other thing in your life that you have been fortunate enough to have.
This will help you well in your quest for spiritual health.
9. Healthy people plan their meals ahead
Most of the unhealthy people I know don’t plan their meals in time. When dinner comes they just look for the closest thing in the house and go for it.
Usually, these last minute meals are not healthy.
Learn to plan your meals ahead of time so that you can have the healthiest, nutrient-filled meal you can have.
I know of some families that have a meal time-table. Tell me these families will not be healthy.
They must have spent hours deciding what to put where to have a balanced diet and to get the most nutrients possible.
10. Healthy people usually don’t diet
I have said this somewhere in one of my posts, I don’t diet.
I don’t get the allure of eating a kind of food for a limited amount of time and going back to the junk you ate.
You want to lose weight for your wedding, you start dieting and then after your wedding, you go back to your eating habits.
Just isn’t right.
If you want to be healthy, find healthy people and do what they do.
Health is an everyday thing, an everyday habit and not a weight-loss regime for a limited amount of time.
Plan to live a healthier life every day and don’t think too much about diets. You’ll be fine.
