This is a list of the 10 habits of healthy people you can incorporate in your life to live healthy all year round. You can have the kind of health you mostly hear about and don’t see. The ones that live to be 100 years old and still does things without assistance from walking aids or drugs.
Below is a list of the 10 habits of healthy people:
1. They exercise
Healthy people find time to exercise even though they may be busy. They usually find a way to exercise daily.
Some executives have treadmills in their office so they can do a quick 30-minute run while conducting other business affairs.
You also can do a 30-minute walk around the block or walk to the store or, if your office is not far from your house, walk it.
Daily exercise can help you control your weight, improve the health of your heart and also protect you against other forms of illnesses.
2. They make healthy living a priority
No matter what you do in life, no matter what it is you want to accomplish, you can’t truly do it well if you are not healthy.
Your first priority in life is to be healthy because without your health, all other things become useless.
Health is wealth!
This is one of the most important things in the life of healthy people; they make their health top priority.
They never take it for granted and they understand that it is a gift they have been given.
3. They get plenty of sleep
Most healthy people usually aim for six to eight hours of sleep every night.
But most people are different.
I know a man who sleeps for 4 hours at almost every night. But the thing is that he has been doing this for over thirty years now.
You have to have had great experience not sleeping to do this.
It is not recommended.
Don’t stay up late at night watching the reruns of your favourite show.
Commit to staying healthy. Go to bed at a particular time and get up at a particular time every day.
This is not to say that one day you may not falter, but get yourself up and get back on the race of making sure you live the healthiest life you can.
4. They surround themselves with other healthy people
“You are the average of your 5 closest friends” is a saying congruent of the financial world.
This is a true saying and it is not just congruent with money and finances, it affects every single part of your life.
You are the average weight of your 5 closest friends. If they eat junk all the time, chances are you would start eating junk all the time and soon you will add weight.
5. They always hydrate
Learn the habit of having water around you at all times.
Just like the machine needs grease to move smoothly, so you too need plenty of water to function properly.
Try to drink water first thing in the morning as soon as you wake up.
This is important.
It will help cleanse your digestive system and prepare you for the day before you start to put other stuffs in your stomach.
6. Eat moderately
Most people eat till they are full, and then they eat some more.
You must learn to eat moderately and stop whenever you feel satisfied, not FULL (you know, so full that you can’t get up from the chair for about fifteen minutes, and that when you’re done you feel dizzy and sleepy)!
Healthy people see food as a form of nourishment for their bodies, not as a way to pump their stomach full of unnecessary junk.
Eating till you are filled up is a sure way of never having a flat stomach.

7. They listen to their body
One of the lessons I learnt from the book “way of the peaceful warrior” is that you should always pay attention to your body.
Most people don’t pay close attention to their bodies and that is why they fall sick.
If you are always conscious of your body, you will notice it when sickness is lurking around the corner and then you will take the necessary action to prevent it from happening.
I usually know when I’m about to have a headache so I quickly put on my glasses because it is an eye thing that happens after I play soccer or use I use an aspirin immediately.
You should also know when your body needs rest and when it needs to move around and do more physical stuff.
When you pay close attention to your body and give it what it needs, you will live a healthier life.
8. They cook their own meals
If you have ever noticed it, most of the people who eat outside the house all the time are the ones that add weight and become obese.
If you must buy takeout, do it minimally and try to eat healthy.
Preparing your own meal means that it is not processed, it is healthy and you can be rest assured that it is well prepared.
I hardly eat outside, not mainly because of the home-cooked-meal-thing; it is because I have no idea what these people are doing in the kitchen.
How are they preparing their food?
I never joke with how my food is being prepared and if I don’t know the whole story, it will be rare to see me eat outside.
If I ever eat outside it is in a well prepared restaurant where they usually get inspected by the food agency.
Yep, I’m paranoid that way.
Try and prepare your own food; that way you know what is in it and you also know that it will be a healthy meal.
9. They don’t starve themselves
Healthy people usually eat at least four times a day. Plus they eat light meals.
Beyoncé once said she eats at least five times in one day. (Oh my world! I just typed in “Beyonce” and MS-Word underlined it in red colour. Then I auto-corrected and it came out “Beyoncé” and the colour disappeared. Even Microsoft recognizes this woman. This is awesome).
But I digress.
Anyways, healthy people never starve themselves. They make sure their body gets the normal amount of nourishment daily and they never over-do it.
Eat small meals at least four times daily and your body will have all the nutrients it needs to function well.
10. They mostly eat earth foods
What are earth foods?
Earth foods are foods that are grown and not processed. Examples are yam, corn, fruits and vegetables and other meals that you can think of that are sown and harvested from the ground.
Eating plenty of earth foods will make you live long… literally.
My grandmother on my fathers’ side is in her nineties right now and still doesn’t use any form of aid to do anything, no drugs either because all of her life she has been eating only earth foods. She grows them, harvests them and then eats them.
This is why I think vegetarians are the ones that usually live past the century mark, with a few others sprinkled here and there.
